Near Misses
Near misses happen at both ends of experience; the ones who don’t yet understand the danger, and the ones who believe they do. On a farm, a child may see a playground where risk is invisible, while an experienced operator may rely on routine and confidence. In both cases, it only takes a moment for conditions to turn serious.

The accident that almost happened
Near misses matter because they reveal the hazard before it takes a life. They are often the last warning a person gets.
Why near misses matter
A near miss is not nothing. It is evidence that the conditions for injury or death were already in place. These stories help identify warning signs before luck runs out.
